Affiliate Marketing - Types of Affiliate Marketing Guides

There are several types of affiliate marketing guides that exist on the market. While there might be many types, there are three types I've found in abundance on the web. Some are good, some are bad, but you want to make sure you get the right guide for the task you want to accomplish.

Advertising Guides

Probably one of the most prevalent type of affiliate marketing guide on the web today are those about how to advertise your product. They include guides on Google Adwords, blog marketing and other online resources for advertising. These types of guides are usually those that promise you an increase in sales if you follow their guide. Ask yourself how many of these you've purchased and how many have lived up to their promises. Ultimately, these guides provide no more information than what you can get for free on the web. However, their selling points make them seem invaluable. I won't say you shouldn't buy these guides, but I will say to be cautious and don't expect too much. I do find them to be valuable in finding out the methods that most affiliate marketers have fallen for.

Traffic Guides

Another type of affiliate marketing guide is the one that promises you a lot of traffic by following their methods. These guides are actually not all bad. Many of these types of guides have some good ideas that if you follow, you could see an increase in traffic. However, one caveat is that again, they usually make unreal promises that only a few achieve in the time frame they state.

Affiliate Business Guides

Affiliate marketing business guides are relatively rare. In fact, I only know of one that is on the market. This type of guide provides sound information from start to finish about how to start and succeed at affiliate marketing. No gimmicks, just good solid information. The advantage of an affiliate marketing business guide is that it gives you the information you need to make an informed decision about many aspects of affiliate marketing. This is the type of guide you should always keep because the information will not expire until there are major changes on the internet. You'll want to consult it over and over again.

All three types can be used together or separately. Your best bet is to get one of each and experiment. If you find something that works for you, keep the guide. If not, as most are, get a refund and start working on your own plan. Remember, nothing in affiliate marketing is magic. Affiliate marketing is a job and until you've built your business, autopilot does not exist.
